Relief Printing.
Relief printing involves hand carving a lino block, which is inked and printed to reveal an image. In my practice I use a reduction method by which each colour is carved and printed using the same lino block. As a result, the printing block is destroyed in the creative process, producing one-of-a-kind prints that cannot be replicated.
Here is a selection of prints from various projects that use this process.

My prints are made from Japanese Vinyl which is hand carved and printed from my small studio in Manchester. Each print is made on high quality Awagami paper using Stay Open Inks by Hawthorn Printmakers in Yorkshire.

Prints can take anywhere between 3 days to 8 weeks to create. This is completely dependant on the complexity of the design. The temperature and humidity can often affect the drying times of prints. This process is truly a labour of love, but if you have a time scale in mind I always do my best to accommodate it.

See something you like? Why not send an email to see if it is available. If not, I am currently accepting commissions, these make a great gift or a fun way to commemorate a special day.
Live from the Moon is a series of lino prints depicting the early years of NASA space program. “Orbit” is my most ambitious print, made up of 17 layers, all hand carved and hand printed. Only 14 of these prints exist.
